Short-Story

The City Mouse
and the Country Mouse

Once a little mouse who lived in the country invited a little Mouse from the city to visit him.  When the little City Mouse  sat down to dinner he was surprised to find that the Country Mouse had nothing to eat except barley and grain.

"Really," he said, "you do not live well at all; you should see how I live! I have all sorts of fine things to eat every day.  You must come to visit me and see how nice it is to live in the city."

The little Country Mouse was glad to do this, and after a while he went to the city to visit his friend.

The very first place that the City Mouse took the Country Mouse to see was the kitchen cupboard of the house where he lived.  There, on the lowest shelf, behind some stone jars, stood a big paper bag of brown sugar.  The little City Mouse gnawed a hole in the bag and invited his friend to nibble for himself.

The two little mice nibbled and nibbled, and the Country Mouse thought he had never tasted anything so delicious in his life.  He was just thinking how lucky the City Mouse was, when suddenly the door opened with a bang, and in came the cook to get some flour.

"Run!" whispered the City Mouse. And they ran as fast as they could to the little hole where they had come in.  The little Country Mouse was shaking all over when they got safely away, but the little City Mouse said, "That is nothing; she will soon go away and then we can go back."

After the cook had gone away and shut the door they stole softly back, and this time the City Mouse had something new to show: he took the little Country Mouse into a corner on the top shelf, where a big jar of dried prunes stood open.  After much tugging and pulling they got a large dried prune out of the jar on to the shelf and began to nibble at it.  This was even better than the brown sugar.  The little Country Mouse liked the taste so much that he could hardly nibble fast enough. But all at once, in the midst of their eating, there came a scratching at the door and a sharp, loud MIAOUW!

"What is that?" said the Country Mouse.  The City Mouse just whispered, "Sh!" and ran as fast as he could to the hole.

The Country Mouse ran after, you may be sure, as fast as HE could.  As soon as they were out of danger the City Mouse  said, "That was the old Cat; she is the best mouser in town,--if she once gets you, you are lost."

"This is very terrible," said the little Country Mouse; "let us not go back to the cupboard again."

"No," said the City Mouse, "I will take you to the cellar; there is something especial there."

So the City Mouse took his little friend down the cellar stairs and into a big cupboard where there were many shelves.  On the shelves were jars of butter, and cheeses in bags and out of bags.  Overhead hung bunches of sausages, and there were spicy apples in barrels standing about.  It smelled so good that it went to the little Country Mouse's head.  He ran along the shelf and nibbled at a cheese here, and a bit of butter there, until he saw an especially rich, very delicious-smelling piece of cheese on a queer little stand in a corner. He was just on the point of putting his teeth into the cheese when the City Mouse saw him.

"Stop! stop!" cried the City Mouse. "That is a trap!"

The little Country Mouse stopped and said, "What is a trap?"

"That thing is a trap," said the little City Mouse.  "The minute you touch the cheese with your teeth something comes down on your head hard, and you're dead."

The little Country Mouse looked at the trap, and he looked at the cheese, and he looked at the little City Mouse.  "If you'll excuse me," he said, "I think I will go home.  I'd rather have barley and grain to eat and eat it in peace and comfort, than have brown sugar and dried prunes and cheese,--and be frightened to death all the time!"

So the little Country Mouse went back to his home, and there he stayed all the rest of his life.

Matswapati!

In last Saturday, 3 Senior High School Bandung held an art festival event. It was open for public and cost 25k Rupiah for the ticket. It was named Matswapati. The name was taken from one of traditional puppet name Prabu Maswapati. Matswapati offered many performances, from traditional Sundanese art to modern song by Glenn Fredly. It was held at the Bali Field and it is near from the school. The event started by street parade around the city at 7pm until 9pm. Street parade was joined by some elementary and junior high school in Bandung. When went back to the venue, the mayor, principal of 3 senior high school, and chairman of the Maswapati opened the event officially.

In the morning, when my friend and I were decorating booth, I watched traditional Sundanese art such as Jaipong dance, calung, etc. I watched it from the booth until the end of the traditional sundanese performances, because it was already hot. I can’t stand it. Luckily, our booth was near from the stage. So I can easily watch the performances without getting any radiation from the sun. I think they were a good artist because they played it well.

Next, I watched MK3.  MK3 stands for Musik Klasik 3. It is one of art extraculiculerr at 3 Senior High School. In Maswapati, they played beautiful songs, anyway I don’t know the songs, but I really loved it. They didn’t only play instrument but, some members were singing while the others played instruments. The instruments was various such as violin, guitar, bass, piano. They can play it well, and it made an amazing harmony at noon.

In the afternoon there were traditional puppets or wayang performances. It was very funny because the controller of puppets said silly word in sundanese. I was laughing because the puppets acted so silly. The controller made a ridiculous joke in the warm afternoon anyway.

Traditional Puppet Show
After the puppet show, Barsena was on the stage, he sang beautiful song too. Anyway, I didn’t know who was him until my friends was telling me. Bali field was crowded at that time, because Barsena was one of attraction beside Glenn Fredly. Barsena also sang with KV3 (Kelompok Vokal 3) one of extraculiculerr in 3 Senior High School Bandung.

In the night, Glenn Fredly was lighting up the night. It was climax of the event. Glenn Fredly sang a beautiful song. With the last session he took big selfie with the all audience and sent it to the twitter. I think that night was such a beautiful night!

An Unforgettable Moment

When I was in junior high school. I joined biology club. That club was kind of an extraculiculerr until it was closed lately. It was built for preparation of science competition such as Research, Olympiad, and many more. My friends and I used to join the meeting at Tuesday afterschool. Mainly, we studied biology with our teacher till afternoon.

In 2012, my teacher told us there is a research competition. It was national competition. I was so excited about it. I suggested bio plastic (eco green plastic), and my friends also gave a lot of idea, but at last my teacher picked my idea as the research. We conducted experiment for 3 months. It was exciting research that I have been doing. After the research, we made a report about it and sent it to the education ministry.

Late August 2012, my group was chosen as finalist at the competition in Banjarmasin, south Kalimantan in the next month. We were so excited. But, only one person as group representative can be flight to Banjarmasin. Luckily, my teacher picked me as that person. I was so happy about it. About one month to the competition. I prepared myself to demonstrate the research by using presentation.

In late September 2012, I flight to Banjarmasin with the other delegation. It was my first long flight. It took about 2 hours until we arrived at Syamsudin Noor Airport at Banjarmasin. Later, we continued an hour car drive to Hotel Aria Barito (the place where competition was held).

After arrived at the hotel. I prepared for the opening ceremony at the hotel’s ballroom. The ballroom was very crowded, many delegation from other province gathered at one place. I was very excited because, that was my first experience to meet other people outside my province. The competition was opened by people from ministry. And later on, I just went to bed because of tired. Anyway, I got room with North Sumatra and West Sulawesi delegation.

On the next day, I meet other contestant. We shared a lot of things. Mainly, we discussed about our research. They were good researcher, they had many unique researches. Many delegation had demonstrated their research. They shared about their experiences when they were in the judging room. Many expression nervous, sad, and etc.

When the others people had finished their demonstration, I just went to the judging room. I got 33 from 38 number. In the judging room I was very nervous, and luckily I nailed it. The last days I just spent it for strolling around the city, sightseeing, until recreation by staff from the ministry to museum and Martapura.

In the night, was closing ceremony and also announcement of the winner. But unfortunately, I didn’t make it. Maybe, I was a little bit disappointed, but anyway I had got a good experience that I never have before.

My friend's autobiography

Hello, I have a new friend. His name is Septiansyah Nur Subkhi, usually I call him Septian. He sits next to me. He is slim boy. He has fair skin and curly black hair. He was born in 16th September 16 years ago. He went to 28 Junior High School. He lives at Saluyu XV 257 Street. I met him at student orientation last July. We talked lots of things after the orientation, from school to absurd things.

He is nice boy anyway and kind of an ambitious person and perfectionist, he really pushes himself to gain his goals. And sometimes when he feels so unsatisfied and insecure he will tell me about it. About his grade, his unsuccessful ambitions, or even a ridiculous thing. He will take small things into big deals.

His favorite food is steak. He is carnivore boy . And also he loves cooking, drawing, and singing. He is an artist! I have seen his painting and He does a good job, his painting is so good, and actually he also wants to be an architect. I hope it will come true.

I think he is really well-organized boy. He wakes up in early morning about 3:30am and prepares for school. He also attends a course on Tuesday and Thursday at Ganesha Operation. He also does his homework on time. He doesn’t waste his time for useless things. He is also quite boy when teacher teaches us.

During recess, He is become fussy boy. He talks lots of things. He often talks about himself. Such as, his previous school memories, his habit,  his big mistakes, etc. I’m just a good listener for him. I want to be a good friend. Usually, he brings his lunch box with a lot of food, he often brings soy cake, rice, noodle, fried egg, etc. But he still buys snacks in canteen, like chips, or anything he likes.

During holiday or short break, He likes listening to the music, doing something that refreshes his mind, jogging, and also doing his hobbies. He really wants to continue his study in Architecture at Bandung Technology Institute. I hope he will make his dreams come true. Keep your good work Septian!

My Autobiography

My name is Akmal Alfarizi, everybody often calls me Akmal. I was born in Serang on Monday night, 16th November 1998, and now I’m 15 years old. I have studied in 02 Elementary School and 01 Junior High School Serang. My father is a lecturer and my mother is a housewife. And I have one sister, she is post-graduated. I’m kind of an ambitious person.

I like reading a book, especially novel. I read my novel in school holiday. My favorite is Roald Dahl’s book. Especially Matilda and the Witches. Matilda is about a genius girl that has a dysfunction family and then The Witches is about a boy who faces the witches during his vacation. And also the Goosebump series is one of my favorite novel.

I like science, especially Biology and Physics. Biology teaches me about life, from a small substances into a big organs that build an organism. And physics tells me about life phenomenon, the light that makes us can see the whole world, and makes we can see in the light because of electricity. That makes me feel interested to learn science. My dreams is become a scientist, oncology doctor, and many more.

After finished my study in junior high school, I go to 03 senior high school in Bandung. It’s one of favorite school in Bandung. When I was in elementary school, I really wanted to continue my study in Bandung, and my father suggested me to study in 03 Senior High School Bandung, after graduate from junior high school. So when I was in junior high school, I studied hard for accepted in 03 Senior High School Bandung.

My teacher says “To be accepted in that school is very hard, you must pass “SERU 3” and as you know that the test is very hard, only one student in our school have passed the test, and the other one have passed in academic selection (using national examination score)” My teacher words make me push myself to study hard for preparation.

Luckily, in this year there is no “SERU 3” there is only academic selection, so my chance to be accepted is become bigger. And finally I got accepted in 03 senior high school, my dream school. So in this school, i must study very hard for survive in this school anyway.
